Forward Collision Warning (FCW) & Forward Collision-Avoidance (FCA)* is a supplemental Advanced Driving Assistance System designed to help alert the driver and under certain conditions, apply emergency braking when rapidly approaching a vehicle that is slowing down, braking or stopped.

Initially, the Forward Collision Warning (FCW) will provide a warning when it detects a pedestrian or a potential collision with a vehicle in front, emitting an audible warning and visual alert on the instrument cluster.

If the system detects that the collision risk has increased, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) can automatically apply the brakes to reduce speed, potentially helping to reduce the effects of a possible collision.

The sensitivity can be adjusted depending on customer preference in the instrument cluster settings:

• Early (Maximizes the amount of distance between the vehicles before the initial warning occurs)
• Normal
• Late (Reduces the amount of distance between the vehicles before the initial warning occurs)

FCA/FCW will become active under the following conditions:

• Ignition switch is ON
• Vehicle is traveling faster than 5 MPH
• Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is ON

The feature is available on trims of 20 MY Kia vehicles including Telluride, Optima, Sorento, Forte, Soul, Stinger, Rio, and Sportage.
