2021 Kia Seltos
Seltos Kia Drive Wise by Trim – Standard and Available

Seltos introduces one of the most comprehensive suites of Kia Drive Wise (ADAS) technologies in the Entry CUV segment. Let’s explore the standard and available features on all five trims of Seltos and discuss the benefits of each.

Kia Drive Wise Features for Seltos:

Seltos brings a suite of available Kia Drive Wise features to the Kia SUV line-up—many of which buyers might expect to see on more expensive CUVs. These include:

  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist-Rear* (BCA-R)
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist* (RCCA)
  • Safe Exit Assist* (SEA)
  • Highway Driver Assist* (HDA)
  • Lane Following Assist* (LFA)

Let’s start by checking out the benefits of these features and the trims on which they are available.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist-Rear* (BCA-R)

EX, S1.6T, and SX

Builds on Blind-Spot Collision Warning* by applying brakes to the outer wheel under certain conditions to return the vehicle to its lane

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist* (RCCA)

EX, S1.6T, and SX

Uses Blind-Spot Collision Warning* technology to help detect approaching cross traffic when in reverse. When approaching cross traffic is detected, the system alerts the driver and applies brakes.

Safe Exit Assist* (SEA)

SX

SEA* can alert the driver or passengers opening their door to not exit the vehicle when the system detects approaching traffic. When detected, a chime sounds.

Highway Driving Assist* (HDA)

SX

HDA* builds on Smart Cruise Control w/ Stop & Go* by using federal highway speed limit information from the navigation* system and, under certain conditions, can automatically adjust vehicle speed to be within the posted speed limit and maintain distance with the vehicle detected in front.

Lane Following Assist* (LFA)

S, EX, S1.6T, and SX

Builds on Lane Keeping Assist* and Smart Cruise Control*. It can follow lane markings that the system detects and can provide steering inputs to help maintain the vehicle along the lane.

Rear Occupant Alert* (ROA)

Standard on all trims

ROA is designed to provide a message in the instrument cluster for the driver to “check rear seats” in order to help prevent leaving the vehicle with a rear passenger left inside; the message appears when the driver door is opened after a rear passenger door had been opened and closed.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist* (FCA)

S, EX, S1.6T, and SX

Builds on Forward Collision Warning* by assisting the driver in braking to help prevent a collision or lessen the effects in certain conditions if a vehicle or object is detected in front.

Smart Cruise Control w/ Stop & Go* (SCC w/S & G)

SX

Builds on Smart Cruise Control* by being able to bring the vehicle to a full stop and resuming when traffic resumes within 3 seconds of stopping.

Lane Keeping Assist* (LKA)

S, EX, S1.6T, and SX

Builds on Lane Departure Warning* by applying slight steering inputs in certain circumstances to help bring the vehicle back into the lane.

Driver Attention Warning* (DAW)

S, EX, S1.6T, and SX

Designed to monitor a number of vehicle and driver inputs and can alert the driver if it detects inattentive driving practices.

In today’s world...

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems* are at the forefront of nearly all new vehicle releases. Seltos stays on top of the ball by incorporating systems that seem to only be offered by premium, more expensive automotive makes. Riding on the coattails of Telluride, Seltos aims to bring such features to the SUV market, catering to a bounty of eager customers.

Enjoy the rest of your day, and tune in next week for more tech talk.
