SUBJECT: IQS Quick Tip #33 – Vehicle Auto-Shut Off Feature 2021 MY Kia Seltos, K5, and Sorento (if equipped)

Some 2021 model year Kia Seltos, K5, and Sorento vehicles are equipped with a new Auto-Shut Off feature, which automatically shuts off the engine after a set time period. This feature will help reduce fuel consumption and prevent carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
A customer’s ability to understand the functionality and operation of this feature can help avoid “Difficult to Understand” concerns. As part of the perfect delivery, please explain the operation of the Auto-Shut Off Feature.
For the Auto-Shut Off feature to be activated, the vehicle must meet certain prerequisites conditions.
- Ignition ON and engine running
- Transmission is in the P (Park) position
- The driver’s seat belt is unfastened
- The driver’s door is opened
- The passenger seat is not occupied
Auto-Shut Off Settings
The driver may set the vehicle’s shut off timer to 60 min., 30 min., or Disable. Depending on the model, the settings can be changed by way of the instrument cluster display (User Settings → Convenience) or the Navigation system (AVN), if equipped.
NOTE: The default setting will be retained until the timer is reset. The timer will revert back to the previous setting at the next start up even if the driver had previously selected “Disable” in the user Settings Menu.

A thorough demonstration of buckling and unfastening of the 2nd and 3rd row seat belts during the perfect delivery process should include the tip that the lap belt tongue plate can be used to retract the seat belt webbing from the center anchor/buckle without the need for any other tools. This may help to prevent customer IQS Difficult to Use (DTU) complaints.
