Traditionally, new vehicle Deliveries took place by appointment, often on the next day. Today, same day or "spot" Deliveries are becoming increasingly common for many Kia Dealers and the entire industry.

Appointment Deliveries

Customers depart and return for an appointment

Usually scheduled 1 to 3 days after the purchase

Sets a convenient time for customer and Dealership

Allows thorough inspection of the vehicle

Sales can be lost if customer leaves Dealership

Allows flexible prep time for all Departments – Service / Prep team, F&I office, Parts, Sales team, etc.

Customer may experience “buyer’s remorse” or a family member may intervene

Less interruption of Dealership work flow

A competitive Dealership or Brand may contact the customer with “an offer they can’t refuse”

Convenient scheduling of resources

Tends to take more total time

Helps set customer expectations that “Delivery is an event” and will take a commitment of time

Instead of working “on next sale,” Dealership is working to complete the last sale

Accessories not in stock can be obtained

Spot Deliveries

Conducted on the same day as the purchase

Customer usually stays at the Dealership from sale to Delivery

Often results in evening or weekend Deliveries

Satisfies the customer’s desire for “instant gratification”

Can cause scheduling conflicts and resource problems in Dealership

Secures the sale and the commission on the spot

Vehicle condition may be compromised if not fully inspected and prepped

Heads off any potential for the sale being derailed or buyer’s remorse

Dealerships tend to set unrealistic customer expectations: even Spot Deliveries can take 2 - 3 hours

Moves business along briskly, allowing the Dealership to move on to the next customer and potential sale

By rushing, key steps may be missed, such as Service Introduction or a thorough Vehicle Orientation

Opportunities may be lost for accessories, appearance care, financial products, etc. in order to speed up process
