The big news for customers will be the new Hybrid (HEV) powertrain option. It is unique to the Kia lineup and SUV portfolio!

There are three powertrain options to choose from for 2021:

• 2.5L 4-cylinder GDI 16V DOHC w/ Dual CVVT engine — Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) and All-Wheel Drive* (AWD) (LX and S)
• 2.5L 4-cylinder GDI Turbo 16V DOHC w/ Dual CVVT engine — Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) and All-Wheel Drive* (AWD) (EX, SX, SX-Prestige, and X-Line SX-Prestige)
• Kia-first Turbo Hybrid (HEV): Dual power with a 1.6L 4-cylinder GDI Turbo combustion engine and self-charging 44.2kW electric motor — Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) (S HEV and EX HEV)

IMPROVED RIDE AND HANDLING

The All-New Sorento is the 4th generation—built on a new platform that’s lighter and stronger than the previous generation. This means customers will experience a smoother ride and better handling. The suspension has MacPherson struts up front and multi-link in the rear.

ADAPTIVE ALL-WHEEL DRIVE* (AWD) PACKAGES

For customers who want enhanced traction—for example, for frequent travel in inclement weather, an All-Wheel Drive* (AWD) option package is available for all of the gas-powered trims. These all include features such as:

• Torque-vectoring AWD* system with center-locking differential
• Increased ride height (by 25mm) on the 2.5L and 2.5L Turbo engine variants
• New Snow Mode option for Drive Mode Select

INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE (ICE) POWERTRAINS

LX and S

• 2.5L 4-cylinder GDI 16V DOHC w/ Dual CVVT engine
• 8-speed automatic transmission
• Produces 191 HP and 181 lb.-ft. of torque
• Estimated fuel economy* for FWD: 26 MPG* combined / AWD*: 24 MPG*

EX, SX, SX-Prestige, and X-Line SX-Prestige

• Upgraded 2.5L 4-cylinder GDI 16V DOHC Turbo engine
• 8-speed Dual-clutch Transmission (DCT) that makes the most of the engine’s generous torque
• Produces a powerful 281 HP and 311 lb.-ft. of torque
• Estimated fuel economy* for FWD: 25 MPG* combined / AWD*: 24 MPG* combined

ELECTRIFIED POWERTRAINS

Kia-first Turbo Hybrid (HEV): S, EX

• Dual power with a 1.6L 4-cylinder GDI Turbo combustion engine and self-charging 44.2kW electric motor (1.5 kWh battery)
• 6-speed automatic transmission w/ Shift-by-wire Transmission Controls
• Produces 227 HP
• Estimated fuel economy* for FWD: 37 MPG* combined
• Combined range of approximately 620 miles

EXCITING DRIVE MODES

Customers can personalize their driving preferences by choosing from multiple drive modes, depending on the trim level:

• Comfort/Normal mode provides ‘soft’ driving and comfortable riding.
• Sport mode provides a more dynamic driving experience, with faster shift times and more sensitive handling.
• Eco mode moderates engine and transmission control with the goal of increasing fuel economy* in certain situations.
• Smart mode automatically adjusts the driving mode (Comfort/Normal, Sport, or Eco) according to the customer’s driving habits.

The AWD* models add a new Snow Mode with faster, smoother shift times, shifts at lower rpms (compared with Eco mode), and torque reduction in first, second, and reverse gears. This makes it more sensitive on slippery roads, giving customers greater peace of mind.
