SUBJECT:  IQS Quick Tip #9 Idle Stop and Go (ISG)

The Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system is found on the 20 MY Kia Telluride, Soul (except LX manual), and Stinger models. The ISG system helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions by automatically shutting down the engine when the vehicle is at a standstill.

The ISG button can be found on the center console on Telluride and Stinger and on the left side of the steering wheel on the driver’s panel on the Soul.

ISG is active by default at vehicle start-up. By pressing the ISG Off Button , the ISG is deactivated. If you press the button again or cycle the ignition, the ISG will turn ON again.

An ISG indicator in the instrument cluster illuminates green when the engine is auto stopped. The engine will restart when the brake pedal is released or the shift lever is moved from D (Drive) to the R (Reverse) position.

The ISG system is disabled when:

• A seat belt is unfastened
• The hood or a door is opened
• Battery condition is poor
• The front or rear defroster is turned on
• Engine coolant temperature is low
• The outside ambient temperature is too low/high
• Emission control devices activate
• The vehicle is on a steep slope

Reminders:

• Under certain conditions, the engine will restart automatically.
• If the yellow AUTO STOP indicator is on (solid), the system is functional however, not all enabling criteria has been met
• If the AUTO STOP indicator is continuously blinking yellow and the ISG button LED is on, the vehicle should be inspected by the service department
