Below is an excerpt from the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Reference Guide. This week Kia University wants you to get comfortable with the ADAS technology that will help your customers stay in their lane.
LANE DEPARTURE WARNING* (LDW)
Designed to alert the driver if the system detects that the vehicle is about to depart from its current lane without a turn signal.
LANE KEEPING ASSIST* (LKA)
Builds on LDW* by applying slight steering inputs in certain circumstances to help bring the vehicle back into the lane.
DRIVER ATTENTION WARNING* (DAW)
Designed to monitor a number of vehicle and driver inputs and can alert the driver if it senses the driver’s attention level has been
significantly reduced.
LANE FOLLOWING ASSIST* (LFA)
Builds on LKA* and SCC*. It can follow lane markings that the system detects, and provide steering inputs to help maintain the vehicle along the lane. Note that if the vehicle has LFA*, it also has LDW*, DAW*, and LKA*.
HIGHWAY DRIVING ASSIST* (HDA)
Builds on SCC w/ S&G* by using federal highway speed limit information from the navigation system and, under certain conditions, will automatically adjust vehicle speed to be within the posted speed limit and maintain distance with the vehicle in front.
